Mooze the moose is telling the Christmas story about Joseph, Mary and Jesus. They are standing next to Mooze, in front of the stable. The ox peeps over Mooze's shoulder and the donkey, with its long ears, is obediently sitting next to Jesus. A shepherd, a shepherdess and another spectator pass by and stop to listen to Mooze. The four balloons show different parts of the story. At the left bottom, you can find King Herod, who is seated on his throne. At the left top, you can see Santa Claus and Rudolf straight from Scandinavia, together with a star. This is the star the Kings followed to get to Jesus. In the big balloon, you can see the three Kings: the Asian King Caspar, who is sitting on top of his elephant; at the left the African King Balthasar with his lion; at the right the third King with his penguin. The Kings are standing in front of Herod's temple in Jerusalem. At the right bottom, you can see the modern version of the Christmas story, symbolized by a Christmas tree. The gifts are not yet lying underneath the tree, but they are scattered all over the painting. |
